When I get ready for the next KitschnBake festival, I will have taken on board all things I've learnt from the events I've done already. For the Ferryport Festival in Tayport, I had just over a week to prepare. It was a steep learning curve and I'm determined to tweak to perfection next time.
I suppose the biggest lesson I've learnt is that it's not just about the Cakey-Bakeage, although that is the most important and fun part. I want to create a kitsch vibe for everyone who stops at the stall too.
When you call by, you'll see Mavis Cakes in many guises, lots of tray bakes, double chocolate brownies, cake bites and cake pops. You'll be tempted by bags of tablet, cheesecake and whole cakes with fresh fruit ...
You'll be so busy choosing, you won't notice all the work that's gone on behind the scenes. As well as researching recipes and baking up our most popular treats, I've been ordering more business cards, making sure there are enough boxes so people can take their Cakey-Bakeage away with them and, after that, I've been pressing clean table cloths and pretty napkins. There are a lot of jobs on my list. Not that you'll know that when you bite into your bun!
If it all goes well maybe next year KitschnBake will have a Cakey Campervan instead of the canvas!! All I need is the Scottish Summer weather to be kind so that the gazebo can cope well enough with the hordes of Kitschnbake fans!
Now, I'm off to complete the 'to do' list before the oven pings!
